At the entrance to the Glen Canyon National Recreation area at Lee’s Ferry is a roadside stop at Cathedral Wash. You can read the Park Service signs that explain the Vermillion Cliffs' geology and, if you’re so inclined, you can follow the wash either up or downstream. That’s just what I was doing this day until I heard thunder bouncing off the surrounding cliffs. I decided that getting trapped by flooding in the narrow canyon would not make my day. I saw this shot when I got back to the truck.
